Worth Reading
Christ arose on Sunday, so the early church chose that day to celebrate His resurrection.
The Old Testament Sabbath day (Saturday) was a day of rest for Israel.
The Christian's Sunday is more than a day of rest - it's a day to remember Christ's resurrection.
Keeping the Sabbath is the only one of the Ten Commandments that isn't repeated in the New Testament.
The New Testament indicates that the early church met for corporate worship on the first day of the week (Sunday).
That's the pattern in the book of Acts and the implication in other parts of the New Testament (such as 1 Corinthians 16:2).
Although Sunday worship follows the New Testament pattern, nothing is particularly sacred about the day itself.
For believers, worship should occur every day, of course!
